How big are the balconies on Azura? ›

Standard Balcony Room

Balcony sizes range from 46 to 89 square feet. All C deck balconies are sized 9 ft wide by 9 ft deep, have ceiling overhang cover over the first 5 ft and are overlooked from above.

Review of Azura deck 15 (Lido-Pool)

The lunch buffet offers everything from salads, pasta and meat dishes to desserts. The menu features antipasti, secondi, pasta and pizza (which can be had as a starter or main dish) and dolce.

The lifeboats on Azura are all stored around E Deck, so it's lifeboats and their rigging that could potentially block your view. You can choose between fully obstructed, where the lifeboat will take up the whole window, or partially obstructed where only part of your view is compromised.

If you're after views, the best room on a cruise ship will be a balcony cabin at the ship's rear end. Aft balcony accommodations at the ship's corners are also the largest and often give more outside area than conventional balcony cabins, allowing you to enjoy both the beautiful views and the extra space.

Afternoon tea is enormously popular on P&O Cruises' seven ships. Passengers can tuck in every day for no charge -- or pay extra for a gourmet extravaganza by Eric Lanlard (one of P&O Cruises' Food Heroes) on Arcadia, Azura, Britannia, Ventura and, from May 2020.

The Peninsular Restaurant, like the Oriental Restaurant is Club Dining at night with sittings at either 6.30pm or 8.30pm as well as serving open seating waiter service breakfast (from 8.00am to 9.30am), Lunch between 12.15 and 1.45pm and Afternoon Tea from 4.00 to 4.45pm.

Azura's dress code is ˜Smart Casual”. Please refrain from wearing sliders, slippers, flip flops, tracksuits, hats, caps, hoodies, cargo trousers. Management reserves the right to refuse entry to anyone not meeting the dress code policy.

P&O Azura has four swimming pool areas complete with sunbathing areas, bars for drinks and snacks and hot tub whirlpools.

The Playhouse theatre

As soon as you enter Azura's 800 seat, two tier theatre immediately your expectations begin to build. And rightly so. With multiple performances on selected nights, you can plan your evening however you like.

Note: On P&O Azura ship, launderettes are located on decks Riviera, A, B, C, D, E, P. These are passenger use laundry facilities (open 8 am - 10 pm, complimentary), complete with dryers, washers, ironing boards. Detergent costs extra, or you can use your own.

Azura is one of the largest cruise ships in the P&O Cruises fleet.

You want to be as close to the pivot point as possible to feel the least movement. Avoid cabins near the front (bow) or back (stern) and on decks higher than the middle deck of the ship. So, on a ship with fourteen passenger decks, your best options are below deck seven.

The higher the deck, the better and, often, more panoramic the view. Cabins on top decks aren't always the best on the ship, but many suites and specialty cabin categories are typically located on upper decks. Like to be near all the action? Most mega-ships place their lido (pool) areas on higher decks.

The most stable part of the ship is its lowest point of gravity, so on a lower deck, at the center. You'd feel a lot less motion here than, say, in a stateroom on the upper decks a long way forward or aft (towards the back of the ship).

As you go up the cabin grades additional perks and benefits are included such as butler service, bathrobes, fresh daily fruit and welcome champagne on arrival.

Azura normally has 2 formal nights per week. It should list them in the My Cruise/Itinerary section online if you log in.

Afternoon Tea Dress

Dressing for afternoon tea can be modified to however smart or casual you may feel. While you can get away with a smart top and jeans, if you don't want to dress up, many ladies choose to take the opportunity to don a pretty frock.

Wi-Fi is not free on the P&O Azura. There is an activation charge of £2.50, after which you can buy time packages from the ship's Cyber Centre, which typically work out at between 25p and 35p a minute, depending on which package you choose. You can also select the pay as you go rate of £50 per minute.

Glass House Menu

You'll find the Glass House on board Aurora, Azura, Britannia, Iona and Ventura. Starters cost from £2.75, mains from £8 and desserts from £4.50.

The Epicurean (Deck 17); £28-£30 depending on length of cruise: The Epicurean (sometimes referred to as The Epicurean at 17) offers a molecular gourmet twist on classic British fare.

Typically an early dinner begins anywhere between 5:45 and 6:30 p.m. (depending on cruise line and itinerary) and lasts for about two hours. Late seating usually begins around 7:45 to 8:30 p.m. In both cases, cruisers are assigned a table and table mates and have the same waiters every evening.

From T-shirts to shorts, sundresses to skirts (unless, of course, you're heading to colder climates in the winter!), you can wear whatever you please during the day. Our only ask is, if you're away from the pool, please wear shoes and no pool wear in the ship's lounges, inside bars, restaurants or reception.

On formal nights, proper attire includes tuxedos, suits or slacks (jackets required) for men and evening gowns, cocktail dresses or dressy pantsuits for women. Jeans are welcome in all dining venues during the day, but they're not appropriate in any public venues for dinner or cocktail hour.

Hair dryers are in the cabin, irons and ironing boards available in laundry rooms.

The ship was last refurbished in 2015, when the iconic Union Jack livery was painted on the ship's hull.

Is Azura an adults only ship? ›

Azura, Britannia, Iona and Ventura provide a family-friendly experience while Aurora and Arcadia are exclusively for adults.

They are basically the same ship but the atmosphere seems to be better on Azura. The Glasshouse is much nicer on Azura than on Ventura, probably because it was designed as the Glasshouse rather than a tapas bar.

Our chic and stylish cabins come complete with comfy king-sized or twin beds, an en-suite, air conditioning, The White Company toiletries, a TV, tea and coffee facilities, a fridge, a hairdryer, a safe and british plug sockets.

You'll likely want to steer clear of forward cabins. These are far and away the cruise rooms most affected by waves since they're the first to dip in rough seas. Even if you're on a lower deck, the forward of the ship might be the worst place to stay if you're prone to seasickness.

The nicest and most expensive cabins on any ship are generally on the highest decks. That typically means just below the pool deck. However, the pool deck is often the loudest during the day (and often well into the night).

If you have seen pictures of Azura you will see she has what appears to be a walkway around the front/bow of the ship. If you step out on to her promenade deck and walk all the way forward, unlike Ventura where you will find stairs to this area, Azura's prom just ends!

The gym is typically open from 8am - 8pm every day and use of the on board gym equipment is complimentary: Equipment on board includes: Bikes.

The Atrium is the heart of the ship. Here you'll find a café, an art gallery, a bookshop, a library and various shops. In the evenings, you can dance the night away on the dance floor while the Playhouse theater and the Manhattan show lounge stage fantastic shows and live music.

On-board account

For your convenience all of our ships operate a 'cash free' environment with prices in £ sterling. To make any purchases on board you just need to present your cruise card. Our ships do not accept cash, except at the Reception desk for purchase of foreign currency and the settlement of your account.

Balcony Stateroom BB cabins - Balcony.

The best deck on a cruise ship to avoid seasickness is the lowest passenger deck. This is because the top of a ship sways from side to side much more than the bottom. To avoid motion sickness, choose a cabin close to the waterline.

The cheapest cabins on Britannia

The cheapest cabins on P&O Cruises are PF grade cabins. On Britannia, PF grade cabins are inside cabins at the front of the ship, either on a high or low deck. We stayed in the cheapest grade of cabin on Britannia.

With tugboat assistance and using its own thrusters (propulsion units), the vessel was safely re-docked (on another berth). Over 1000 passengers remained stuck on the pier after the gangway (mobile bridge for passengers) collapsed and they had to move to the other dock for boarding.

When was Azura built? Azura entered into service in April 2010. How many restaurants and bars does Azura have? Azura offers 10 restaurants on board including the Peninsular Restaurant, The Glass House and The Epicurean.

Aurora is the smallest ship in the P&O Cruises fleet, welcoming 1,874 passengers aboard.

Cruise experts will often say depending on the itinerary, a balcony room may be more important than on other sailings. If your cruise sails to Alaska or the Mediterranean, there is a lot of anecdotal evidence that a balcony is worth spending more.

The average size of a balcony cabin is 197 feet squared (18.2 meters squared). This varies not only by cruise line but also by ship. The majority of balcony cabins are between 180-200 square feet with some being as small as 150 ft2 and some as large as 305 ft2. Below are 9 examples of balcony cabin sizes.

Balcony rooms are larger in terms of square footage, and the balcony adds even more space to enjoy. Cruise ship cabins are traditionally smaller than hotel rooms, so every square foot counts.

What is the best side of a cruise ship to be on? ›

Here's the general advice for seeing sunrises and sunsets on a cruise: Headed north or west? Choose a port side stateroom for sunsets. Go with starboard for sunrises.

Can You Sleep on a Cruise Ship Balcony? There are no rules that say that passengers on cruise ships can't sleep on their balconies. That said, cruise lines do generally advise against it. Despite this many people enjoy sleeping on their balconies and you won't have any problem doing so if you want to.

Balcony cabins on cruise ships are more spacious due to the outside space. They have spectacular ocean views, fresh sea air, and a private seating area. Although these cabins are more expensive, the rewards of a private balcony sometimes outweigh the cost. If it fits within your budget, balcony cabins are worth it!

2. There are cameras. Cruise ships are equipped with cameras that monitor the outside areas, because if they didn't and someone went missing, then they would have no way to check whether that person had fallen overboard. So yes, your balcony may well have a security camera pointed at it.

American Cruise Lines Fleetwide: All of American Cruise Lines' river and coastal cruise ships have single occupancy cabins, including singles with balconies on the line's modern-style river ships.

To reduce motion sickness, choose a stateroom in the middle of the ship on a lower deck. You will feel any sway of the ship less in this section. Although it may seem counterintuitive, if you're worried about seasickness on a cruise, book a stateroom with a window or a veranda.

The back of the ship tends to be considered the next best cabin position after midships. Whilst the front of the ship gets the most movement the back also does get some. Whilst it's nowhere near as bad as the front of the ship, you may still notice some movement in rough seas.

At times we may offer you the option of making a 'Guarantee' (GTY) booking. This means you may book a stateroom of a guaranteed category type (Interior, Oceanview, Balcony or Suite) on your chosen ship and cruise.

So instead of requesting and being assigned a specific cabin on a specific deck you are booking a Guaranteed cabin category. So, 'Guaranteed Inside' means you will be guaranteed an inside cabin, somewhere on the ship. 'Guaranteed Balcony' means you will be guaranteed a balcony cabin, somewhere on the ship and so on...
